Question: Is it really better to have loved and lost than to have never loved at all?

Is it actually better to have loved someone then lose them later? To experience possible excruciating pain for an unknown period of time? Maybe its ok if you split because you both were really unhappy or didnt care anymore, but come on, how is it good to have your heart trampled upon, to live with that lingering feeling of loss and sadness, to know that person you loved is out there right now, spending time with someone else? Do we really have to believe that we can get over it? That there WILL be somebody else out there? that we WILL find that person? Doesnt that mean that they will run second best to our original love? I guess i can see falling for someone else, eventually, but if you were really in love in your past relationship, how can you just forget about her? And if you can, then what does that say about love, or how you love somebody, that so called NEXT person? This is all just bitching, and stems from overthinking many things in my life but i dont get it and i dont expect anyone else to really get it either. I guess we just have to deal with life, even though it is humans that create these life situations, not life itself. Man i am really turning into a pussy.

And, yes, love sucks. It sucks brackish swampwater. Especially when it dies. But you do forget, because you have to. Because the next one comes along, and she is better, even if she's not. Because "better" is a relative term.
Life is a lot tougher than it should be. But you know what? There are a lot of people out there looking for someone!
