So. When I heard they were making films of the controversial Fifty Shades saga I read the books to find out what all the fuss was about. And you know what? I discovered a reasonably well-written modern love story, most obviously an updated version of Beauty and the Beast. I literally cannot comprehend what all those nay-sayers are complaining about. But, it is about sex and we all know how people love to hate anything thet so much as mentions sex. I have since re-read the trilogy several times and remain dumbfounded by the irrational attitudes of those so-called critics.
Equally, when the films came out and were hysterically lambasted even more than the books, I made a point of watching them and was just as astonished that people found fault with them. They may not be the best films ever made but they're actually quite good. And, as with the books, I've rewatched them several times with no ill effects, only increasing love for the characters and their dilemma.
Anyway, I just binge-watched the three films (because they're a single continuing story) which I had not done before. And they're actually a lot better than I originally thought, with excellent characterisations. Now on my top ten list. So there! ❤️
