I've worked in the health foods field for over 3 yrs. now and had to know what chemicals did what so I could recommend the best herbs for people on medications. Besides the fact that you have no idea what medication her doctor gave her and no idea what interactions the ephedrine would have on it. It 's a safety issue. You can think Im a know-it-all bitch if you want but if the interaction had been dangerous you could have been sued.

I believe ephedrine is used in non-drowsy decongestant to make it a 'non-drowsy' decongestant since it speeds up your heart rate and raises your metabolism (also why diet pills have it)...
