Make sure you have something set up in San Francisco *before* you go... a secure place to stay until you get on your feet, enough money to manage, hopefully a job...
And make sure you really want to do this... if it's just problems with people in TO keep in mind that you'll probably meet people in SF who are exactly the same. And school may not be necessary, but it helps. Be sure this is what you want, cause it's hard to pick up again later.
If you're super sure and you go to SF... congrats, that's amazing. But come visit this area sometimes... I'd like to see ya again sometime!

Ah, no doubt he had an unforseen issue that caused the bump! Alas, one particular good friend of mine was always so prone to cancel or show up late that I could almost set my watch by it! He canceled one in 3 events, and showed up exactly one hour and twenty minutes late for everything. I just got to the point where I told him to be at my place an hour and half before I expected him and he wound up showing up always in the nick of time!!
