1. Trying to get Grandma into a home. We aren't sure if the grief is making things worse and if she'll get better, or if this is the beginning of the end. The night Daddy died my uncle brought my grandmother to the house and every time he left the room, she would lean down and kiss my father's forehead and whisper to him, "You...

I'm in Wisconsin. My dad died last night.
I'll see you when I see you.

Today I went shopping. Just for little stuff. I went to the craft store for 16G beading wire (for a new series of Sculpts I'm starting. The beading wire is for building little beds. It's gonna be cool - I'm excited to see how it comes out. I'll post pictures). Petco for cat toys (and treats! Did you know they make Greenies for cats?! I...

well, at least the dome itself shouldn't be too hard to fund -- they're super cheap to build! but LAND prices are pretty high right now. not that there's any lack of it around here.. one thing that could work nicely is to make friends with someone who owns property and wouldn't mind renting a little corner of land to you to build your dome on. sure would be nice to have another sg around!
devilducky and I went and saw Munich yesterday and Walk The Line today. I'm not sure if I really cared for Munich.
The performances...

Hey, how the hell are you.
I haven't been being a good "friend" and reading folks journals lately.
I've not seen either movie - they won't let screaming infants in the theater. Go figure.
My son was in town the other day and we thought about going to see Munich, but opted for dinner together instead, 'cause I was not interested in the intensity.

i think it's cause when i went to work monday morning, he wasn't on the radio. i think he made his move finally, which makes me sad. i grew to like him a lot, and i'm even contemplating buying sirius just to listen him.

Yep. The picture itself is scary. Well worth the price of admission. Which, for me, was free. But hey, $50 doesn't sound too bad for a scary movie that's actually scary.
I am sick. As a result, I skipped out of work early yesterday and today. And I can do that BECAUSE I AM THE BOSS MOTHERFUCKERS.
Oh, yes. Drunk with power. The power to leave two hours early.

I dreamt that I was a midget, and that I was in the sewers visiting an underground brothel. I asked the girl I was about to have sex with how many people had touched her underwear and she said "96,000".

When you were in the Land of Og, was there a dude with a mohawk holding a drink any where?
I love my family. I will now relay a few stories.
1. This is a story my brother told me about work:
"So I had to go in early to watch this Safety video. And since the TV is in the small office upstairs, we had to go in about ten people at a time. And as soon as the office door closed, I realized...

Thanks for the compliment on the new tattoo, I'm pretty pleased with it myself. I can't wait to get it colored in February.

Very entertaining. You are just too damn cute.
I was walking down the hallway to the laundry room today and these two ladies were walking by the other direction. One of them said the following:
"Well, I'm starting to get sick, but my husband has some antibiotics left over from the last time he was sick, so I'm going to take those."
ARGH!!!1 Don't people understand how antibiotics work? Sweet Jesus. There is...

I have a friend who is a resident and one of his biggest complaints is that people are always pushing for antibiotics and when he tells them they won't work for their situation they think he is lying to save the hospital or insurance companies money.
I think this culture thrive on stupidity. It keeps people buying lots of things they don't need.

Unfortunately, I think it's a common problem. I recently got a prescription for antibiotics (for an animal bite, not a virus) and was told three times each by the doctor, the pharmacist and the person who bought the pills for me, "Now, make sure and take /all/ of those" And I had to be like, "Yeah, I know, or else the germs don't die and they come back as supergerms."
I am watching Red Dragon on USA.
Not because I think it's a particularly good movie, but because I adore Ed Norton. He is the quintessential everyman, and I love that about his acting. Plus, he is just such a cutie with those big sad puppy dog eyes.
By the way, why are people such assholes about the washing machines in apartment building laundryrooms? I...

Have you seen manhunter? Much better version of the movie, imo.
You know how when you fart and you aren't sure if it's going to be really rancid or not, so you kind of have to wait those few seconds before you know how bad it's going to be?
You know when you do that in public and you have to RUN AWAY because it's so bad?
I did that in Barnes and Noble, only I...

OHmygod, I can't stop laughing. Please, help.
I went X-Mas shopping yesterday. I intended to buy three or four presents for other people. Instead I came home with a new Harry Potter t-shirt, a new David Cross CD and a DVD for my parents. D'oh!

Nice, two for you, one for them.

Take care!
The best advice I can offer, regarding your Grandma, is to talk to her whenever you can. I don't know what your relationship is with you Gran, but from personal experience you can learn a lot from grandparents. When my Nan moved back into the area after living in a different province for years I visited her a lot. I learned that she was a candy striper in her youth, and saw pictures of her and my grandpa of when they were young. It may not seem like very important information, but now that she's gone I treasure those memories, and regret that I didn't make more time for her. Grandparents are trying to cope with aging bodies and minds; they also have to attempt to come to terms with the fact that they are about to face the greatest mystery of life: death.
I can't say what everyone needs, but I think anyone could use a friend, and a sympathetic ear, to help deal with the transition.
Just some random thoughts from a stranger. Good luck.
