Living with slobbish roommate is horrific. Usually it helps if there is a system of chores worked out. For instance, one person to take out the trash everyday, and another person to do the vacuuming, one person to do the dishes, and rotate the chores every week, etc.

i got some emails from friends being held in sf for protesting as the police didn't take their hiptops off them. i don't think there were any arrests here in london today...we had a huge banner down the whole side of our building as the march started right here below our house. i couldn't take part as i was on war coverage for work tho so chained to my desktop.
