he he he Ive been using cheap lighting sources too, a couple of desk lamps on coat racks. The book Lighting for Portrait Photography doesn't really show how to get the best results from makeshift lighting its actually more for studios with diffusers and booms so it is kind of useless to me but the book does give me really good ideas and if I ever set up a studio Ill know exactly what I would need light wise.

sorry to hear about your grandpa. my grandma has pancreatic cancer and pretty severe dementia. god i hope when my parents go they go quickly, so i don't have to go through what my mom is going through. *shudder*
