He was a really nice, genuine person, who died way too soon. Many, many years ago, I went to London to visit the Rough Trade shop on Talbot Road. As I wandered through the streets to the shop, I walked by a Laundrette, from which emerged a bloke carrying a washing basket full of clean clothes. It was Joe Strummer. I held the door for him, and then, for a few priceless moments, chatted to one of my all-time heroes. Other people might have said 'Piss Off', but Joe was a real gent. I went my way, and he went his - but I felt ten feet tall! A lovely bloke, sadly missed.
