As far as I know the only reason to do it is for religious reasons, and frankly the idea of devoting a child to god b4 they could possibly have any clue as to what that means is presumptuous at the very least. I'm going to assume that your aunt thought the world of you, and I think she was justified. I've been around long enough to recognize young people who will enrich the lives of all those whom they touch. There can never be too many special people who can make the world a better place and I can easily see you carrying on your aunt's legacy.
