Good morning Shalil. You seem to be all over the site and so sweetly show appreciation to so many members. Maybe you can help me as I'm not so tech savvy. I was going to post something in a thread. I saw you in it. Ass Appreciation. Why do you post in a thread and how do you do it. I tried but I started my own new thread instead. I'm not very good at this! When are you going Pink. You must be in the hunt!

I don't know Farsi, but I love languages.  I'm terrible at learning to actually speak and understand them, but study their evolution and relationships.  English is a good starting point for this as it has such a rich diversity of influences.  The musician in me also just loves the sounds of different languages.  Icelandic is probably my favorite, for similar reasons as Farsi - both are utterly mellifluous, but still employ plenty of solid consonant sounds for punctuation.  Both have unique tonalities, and both have deep important connections to other languages: Icelandic as the most unaltered survivor of the huge Germanic language family, Farsi as the ancient cultural mother of a wide cultural diaspora.

Ha!  But how was their Italian?  My college had so many Asians (not Asian-Americans) that my mom joked that they needed me - a straight white guy - for diversity.  Their English ranged from adequate to ... how are you understanding this lecture?

They didn't know italian at all, they didn't live here. But also those who have been living in Italy for many years still barely know italian... I guess they are not good at learning languages 🤣
