Absolutely Busy

Ill tell you whats my problem is with the Christian conviction in the absolute.

My dad was running a tape by a somewhat famous Christian apologist called Ravi Zacharias in the car on the way to church today, and in it he propounded the purity and the need to be found in the absolute. The chastisement for the lack of it is always...

uptight:
It's interesting that cultures with no history or concept of God have evolved the same basic moral principles as those that have grown up fearing God. Not stealing, not killing, no incest etc.

Buddhists have strong and very realistic moral codes that aren't based on fear of punishment by an external force, but rather by an observance of the workings of causality in the here and now.

How can pantheist / atheist cultures arrive at similar moral codes to "God fearing" cultures? You yourself gave a good suggestion: "its the law of doing what you feel is right, based on a fair bit of sensibility, that is more often then not crafted from experience and self-reflection".

God doesn't tell you not to kill (or fuck) your kin - you do it naturally.

Lets see. Join in Sunday night After we took up the party from the pool. I popped in some R and B music, and there were three naked girls dancing and flashing ourselves in all our glorious nudity by the full length window. Candy couldnt stop yelling at every bum-boat that came by, and we all probably made a hell lot of noise.

I stood...

t was how it would be if we never ate the fruit of the tree of Good and Evil, and carried on procreating in the Garden of Eden. Where wed would of course, all be naked, all of the time. That, and not a Sodom and Gomorrah accidental experiment just before the burning of the cities. There is sex that can make you feel good about yourself, and about people, and sex thatll make you hate the world and drive you to depression. This was definitely the former.

you rule. wink

Fantastic Family Fun

Thats what group sex feels like and its probably because the people were all so cool. Quite odd, but I enjoyed I better then any threesome Ive ever had. It was good group sex. It had blood, whipping, skinny dipping and dancing about naked, along with just the right amount of alcohol. At least this time I was pretty much sure of...

I make a sucky Voltaire.

Some random observations.

One:

When I had met Luce for dinner, he had been talking to me about Dawkins, and after dinner, he bought me his book. Basically, he agreed with Darwinism, and the whole idea that it was essentially our genes that controlled us. Natural selection works for the sake of passing on the best genes. Trail and error....

word doodler indeed! a thing of mental and physical parallels you are. ok i had to get that out of the way.

i dont find your observations to be so random at all. these thing you speak of are the focus of our existence, perhaps all that really matters in the longrun. some of what you say i agree with, the rest i understand, but it is my pointed response to say that this is a universe without rules, shoulds, commandments, etc. ours is a universe of experience, for fun if that prose clarifies. morality is a farce. there is no right or wrong. judgement accomplishes nothing for nothing is anything but that which it is. good/bad is all in the observer. follow? thought so. well, all that is my opinion.

if im sounding halfway intelligable to you, this i beseech next: you're gorgeous and oh! your word doodlings make me tingle. please be my freind! writings of yours directed, not at the general pile of onlookers, but at me would fill me. thats all.
mmonic:
the evolution is not enirely random. trial and error becomes less trivial when its effects directly affect its future probability. the appearance of a being to be perfect is not an argument against the evolution but for it, seeing as how the being evolves only in the context of the environment you find it in. we can be such rational beings because it is advantageous to our survival to be so. over millions of years such an extreme advantage is amplified.

im glad i found your journal entry. youre an interesting lady.

Wow. The US election was really none of my business, and in fact, I'm mildly pleased at the fact that Asian stock markets rose. Not like it's a big deal, if his Middle Eastern policies are going to continue being as tragic as they currently are (actually, tragic really doesn't quite describe it) -I was thinking about oil prices, not Iraqi children dying, although that's...

You're right about how nothing can ever be said without a dissenting voice popping right up, but that doesn't mean that the idea shouldn't be brought up in the first place. It's easy to be the naysayer, not so easy to bring up original ideas and solutions. It's especially difficult to discuss new ideas and solutions, when all the US news seems to care about these days is how elevators "may be" dangerous, or Petey the water-skiing squirrel. Was objectivity ever really obtainable? It seems as though we've always been burdened by the constraints of our perception. The perception agreed upon by a large number of people; that's all objectivity really amounts to, isn't it?

Vic reminded me of a particular acquaintance coming back from camp this weekend, and I found myself looking at him, going, Has it ALREADY been three weeks?. Kerry is not a leader in my opinion. He primarily says what he needs to just to make people like him. At least Bush has principles.

My dad is going to Iraq after Christmas. We need to be there. This is one issue where I strongly disagree. Look into WW1, and how the aftermath set up the stage for WW2 perfectly. We left Germany in a state of punitive peace, with a shattered economy. Obviously a demogogue rose to power. And that is what will happen to Iraq if we leave. A ruler worse than Saddam will rise, probably one of the fundie Imams.

The Past is as Good as Fiction

Or why you really should sleep with whoever you want.

I honestly do not think why it should be a problem sleeping with a perfect stranger. Its a time honed tradition after all, and parents used to love the idea of their children giving their virginity to people they have never met in their entire lives. For some...

Cupido invited me to the opening of his current art exhibit, and of course I went. There will always be good wine and food at any of his parties, and the people at such event are always worth talking to anyway. I had a good time talking to his art dealer about how paintings got sold. But more then anything, I went because it had...

The God is in the Details

This is one of those times I start to think my life is so filled with sensual excess that nothing is particularly exciting anymore. I enjoy it all, in a number of different ways, but I think it would take something like an offer for getting whipped senseless in an isolated villa set-up for an SM orgy to make...

Irritated and Sad

<>The truth is, last night was the second time I stepped into Orchard Towers (you know, the four floors of whores) and I cannot say how unbelievable I find the whole situation, each time. To have sex blatantly for the sake of making money is something I find extremely sad. The cab driver was telling me about how...

I am beginning to worry about you. Although I find your journal compulsive reading, your involvement in it's content concerns me. I guess I'm just an old fashioned softy who cares too much about lovely young girls like you, when it's really none of my business. Maybe I should just regard you as a would-be Sex in the City scribbler and nothing more. But you sound so convincing. Anyway, I hope you take care kiss
