At breakfast yesterday, I got quite pissed off at the fact that another girl in the guest house we were staying at was paying $8 a day for the same room, while we paid $15 (there were other people paying $20). I suppose first wolders are not too familiar with bargaining for accomodation, but suprisingly, if you do, you can shave off about 30% of...

I Should Be So Happy

My parents have taken to Ethan quite well. Actually, infinitely much better then they took to the Ex. They didnt ask him anything much at all, my dad had a conversation with him about anti-Semitism, finance ministers and other boring things like that. For some reason or other, my parents didnt seem particularly interested in the least where our traveling...

I find it a shame that more people dont comment on your writings.. Or maybe its that very few people even bother to read your stuff.. Which if true, is a real shame.
It is extremely refreshing to see a woman with some realistic outlooks on life, and is capable of verbally expressing such thoughts.

Dont let the haters get to you.. they are only jealous because you are living a better, happier life then they are.
antony:
Your journal entries are like chapters in eloquent paperback novels, it's fascinating exoticism of life.

I finally managed to write a little today, but it isn't much, and I don't feel like posting it at the moment. When I finally get some time to myself, maybe I'll do it. For the moment, Ethan stays by my side nearly always, and he peeks at my screen at times, which I do not have a problem with, if he does not have...

Stuck in Bangkok, going to a beach resort tomorrow. Really glad I met a cool woman on the tour bus yesterday that taught us how to get the best deals for lodging. The place we're staying at now isn't all that fantastic, and costing much more than I think it's sensible.

We're slowly learning how not to get ripped off and having lovely candlelight dinners...

Thing always turn out better then how you expect them to be. I cancelled on Dr. Seuss today, because I woke up with my lungs aching like crazy. For a fraction of a second, my mind went, shit, tuberculosis!, but of course it wasnt. They were fine after a good long nap, from which Chris woke me up with when he called.

I met him...

The past few days have been unforgivably hectic. Martine is very upset at me, for some stupid reasons. And he thinks I get jealous over Liz sometimes. I asked him if he was really sad for her that her grandmother has died only because I was wondering if he actually could care for her, or was he simply just doing things because he had to...

A Little Theory

After Martine had convinced me that nearly all of his books by Milan Kundera he had read in French, I decided to buy my own. Besides, I liked owning all my reading material. But of course I like it even more when I allow myself the liberty of owning the possessions of someone I adore. So I bought Laughable Loves today. In...

Two things to say: the way that you write, the way that you express yourself, the very thoughts that you express reminde me a philosopher and make me agree Martine.
And what you sad about Dee and also the pleasure that Martine takes from complimenting you, make me think what a titanic wonderful girl you should be.
I envy your friends and lovers, just for have the privilege of ber around you.
XOXO,

gabriel_rain:
That was very well done. I really like your writing style. I can see the logic in Martine's theory. For me I have to say my view point is similar and somewhat different due to my situation. For too long I've stayed away from relationships due to past tragities and now from the fact that I am willing to sacrifice my own comfort to maintain my focus on the battle ahead. I know a few girls back home and study them and one i wrote about in my journal, but since my getting deployed to Iraq I would rather not have them hurt more if something should happen to me. The thing is the guys don't understand why I don't use girls like they do and I recieve a bunch of shit for it. Namely because I like the whole "boarding" idea and not the go after the easy girls. I also like intelligent women and learning about them. One reason I like Suicide Girls is that the women are not only beautiful but are smart as well and you can talk to them. I would rather go through the process of getting to know a girl than getting her drunk and using her. In my life experiences and job I feel much older than my age but I don't feel invincible at all, yet too many people are far too comfortable with day to day living and forget to actually live. For me I need a drive in life, something to accomplish, like when I risked my life to go back to Colombia to find my Biological family. Now to fight the Guerilla in Iraq and may be eventually in Colombia, yet I am wanting to start a family too. It depend on what I feel after Iraq. A drive in life is important because otherwise things become day to day. I hate that feeling and it makes people become petty about little things and don't know the extent of what they are capable of. I may feel old but I am aware that I can die and have a possibility when I go to Iraq, but I will still strive to become more and feel that even when I have a wife and kids I will keep that drive. I have met similar people with such drives to accomplish something but these days its becoming rare. What I read from others that talk about you and what you write you sound very interesting and a person that one wants to know, which is why on your last post I severly disagreed with what the shallow people thought of you. Take care and keep writing. smile

Moral Quacks

I dont really write much about the whole racial thing any more because I generally dont like to think of people in terms of the colour of their skin. I think it quite unfair actually, how so many local people can find it logical to slander someone based on their choice of lifestyle and partner, and accuse me of being racist against my...

Hmmmmm.......

You've said a lot that I've felt in my home.
You're right, men who are intimidated by strong women resort to cheap shots and low blows usually about looks, intelligence or something generally only associated with women. We are called bitches when we act more aggressive or act "more like men".

You have a preference and that is your preference and no one elses. In general people who are afraid or dislike themselves will resort to putting down superficial things in another. Take for example, I just had an intense fight with my own brother. He put me down in every way possible...job, lifestyle, how I treat people, you name it, he said it. Very cruel. However, his comments are based on things he has no idea about, things he sees on the surface but neglects to know the inside story. Many people are like this.....we all fall prey to it in some way and to others it is a way of life.

Women are still expected to be demure, virginal and the perfect wife no matter how many coats of feminism are placed on top. Granted, feminism has done wonders but old habits die hard.

The person who wrote you an e-mail.....I wonder what they are up to currently? Who are they to decide?

I love/hate my home as much. I feel stiffled here and yet still love that I'm here and able to do what I do. It's in our nature to be different and follow a different road. It took my ugly fight with someone I loved to rediscover I am where I am because I choose it and I am different because I have to be.
Keep looking to where you want to be.....

"In extreme situations, the entire universe becomes our foe, at such critical times, unity of mind and technique is essential- do not let your heart waver!"

That was very well said. I can relate to a lot of what you said. i was born in Cali, Colombia and get a lot of shit for it saying that I'm a drug lord. Its the 10% that make the rest look bad. For relationships I have always valued and look for people of different nationalities. I love to learn about different cultures. you are very beautiful and shouldn't be treated like crap because of skin color, but people will continue to be what they're taught. I am proud to be Colombian and Caleno means that I'm from Cali. I say be proud of your country and who you are, but break free when you can. to all that criticize you and say stupid things, from what you wrote your very intelligent and from your pictures your very beautiful, so they are ignorant and don't deserve to be in your presence. Take Care and Good Luck on your escape. smile

Tropical Silence

The day passed by in a delirium of sultry stillness, giving me hours with which I could find time for detachment from the necessity to be with people. The afternoon was self-affirming. I made myself worthy to be worshipped and worshipped myself. Surely there is something admirable in the nature that, at times, desires remoteness from everything that does not matter. Which is...

"Nudity is sacred, but I cannot see the link between it being sacred and it being something I should shun and be ashamed of. All the holy books of the world are deemed sacred by their respective faiths, I suppose we should hide them from the world and read them only in the privacy of our bathrooms. (Shame on you for raping their sanctified revelations to the masses!)"

this is exactly why I chose to do SG. As usualy you put it better than I ever have - I'm glad we feel the same way. I definitly would not frown to see you naked in the sun! (or be naked in the sun myself, its cold over here in the west.)
