so i was just looking through these blog a day things. the golden compass movie is horrendous if you've read the book. i'm in the process of finishing the amber spyglass right now.
i had seen the golden compass in theatres before ever reading it. i actually enjoyed the movie quite a bit. however, recently i decided to go ahead and read them. after finishing the golden compass i was excited to go back and watch the movie.
it's awful. they try to fit so much in that it completely takes out the important conversations and things you learn along the journey. they just try to fit in all the big events, and they do, which is cool to see at least. but the movie ends before they even go to lord asriel's cabin. so the massive important event at the end of the book isn't even in the movie.
