Awe.. to be honest, I worked a job for years as a welder so I could afford the life I wanted to have. Then I realized that hating what I was doing for 10 hours a day was making me really sad. I took a step back and followed a path that made me happy. I then took steps to grow in my job and get myself to a place where I could afford the life I wanted. I then realized that when I was happy with what I was doing I wasn't needing to fill it up with all this extra stuff.

the best way to make money is not to spend it. live in a box and work as an investment consultant. Keep all your money in the bank and only buy what you need in that moment - keep no possessions other than the few clothes you might want to have. Get books from the library. Carpool with co-workers or walk everywhere. Shower at a healthclub or similar establishment - or make friends with somebody who will let you use their shower a couple times a week. Pet other people's dogs and comment about how nice it would be to have one of your own, but never actually have one of your own. Visit all the different cafes, restaurants, clothing stores, book stores, and anywhere else that plays music and see what you like most. Go to guitar shops and play their guitars for hours and then leave without buying anything. Plant tomato seeds in the yard of somebody who obviously pays little or no attention to what grows on their property, and then feed off those. Take your business suits to different dry-cleaners and only pick them up before you head to work, then drop it off at the end of the night and pick a different one up at a different cleaners the next day. Oh. And make friends with people who work in restaurants and grocery stores, as they can usually hook you up with good deals on cheap or free food.
