Ok so I read the post and wasn't sure just what to type in response. But then after a bit of thinking, and shaking off some distractions I thought of something I could add to the discussion.
In the years that the missus and I have been involved in the swinging community, aka "the lifestyle" we've come across the most unusual circumstance.
It would appear that amongst so called "open-minded" people the men AND women both carry the same double standard. You see if you are in a couple and you invite a woman to your bedroom then it is fine, sport even, but if you invite a MAN then it is cheating.
Not my idea, but it's altogether too common.
In my opinion this viewpoint is an insult to a womans sexuality. Somehow sex that involves two women is not sex in the minds of these people. It's regarded as play and nothing else. I'd have to assume that there isn't a lesbian in the world who holds such a dismissive attitude towards their sexual encounters. And though I could prattle on endlessly about the reasons it exist in the community I'm perfectly capable of summing it up briefly. This attitude grows out of the insecurity and homophobia of the men, and is compounded the men-on-men specific homophobia of the women and their lifetime of programming that tells them to do whatever it takes to make their men happy.

Yeah, out the window. It makes me sad that my field is the only one that graduates LESS women every year. Even the hard sciences and math do better.
And I think, especially from talking to women who are starting out in college in my field, that it's because of the behavior of the people in the field. All women in a programming class seem to be treated as if they're retarded.
