I 1st read DUNE about 1970 while in High School. It does open one up to living with an Ecological awareness. The pictures that Herbert's words paint are staggering. CHILDREN OF DUNE & GOD EMPEROR OF DUNE really do carry the story forward. The 1980's movie and the SyFy Channels take took some Plot elements and didn't do them justice. On Sat. I was watching a BBC chat show. The actor who played Kahl Drogo & Aquaman mention that he'd been in Jordan filming DUNE. I hope that they stick closer to the book this time around. If you like Herbert's style look for DRAGON IN THE SEA, about stealing other countries oil.
