Too true! I suffered just like this with childhood friends. Come to find out, one of the dudes tore me down cause he was taking out the frustrations of his parent's divorce on me. But I never forgave him because he never apologised. After that I had a slew of shitty friends in college who would talk trash about me, right to my face. After a while, ain started cutting down interaction with all assholes, and like you, kept the good close friends of whom I can truly vibe with. "Don't let bad people take up space in your mind. Raise the rent and kick them out!"
