One one hand, it may be one of those weird fights that stems from some other, deeper cause--maybe there was something bothering him that he didn't know how to bring up, and this was an excuse.
Devil's advocate view: If this guy has such a temper that he's willing to dump you (and smash furniture) over you talking to someone, well, it could be that in the long run you're better off.
You can't control anyone but yourself... try to be calm and mellow and examine what options you have. Sorry I can't be more help...

Oh those yellow blinds, I can totally relate to that, since I have experienced many times a "well lit" bedroom at night. Wish I could mail you one of those eye covers, I got tons of them from all the little packages in business class flights. I guess the best place to look for one is in a travel store, one that carries luggage and other things for travel. Many times you can find such stores in big malls.
