Noooooo 😵 That is an epic lose for SG... and I completely understand our beloved @hylia and her decision. I also share the opinion of @leemalee_ and @caraphernelia, piracy is heavily striking SG. On the other side, I've been working in photography for more than 10 years now, and copyright is one of the most strange things there are. I'm sure this affects both the photographers and the models with the same strength, if not in the same way... the reason SG site cannot fight back piracy is because they don't really own the pictures UNTIL they buy them. So sets in MR are not protected by the sites copyright. I am sure they will go against any website that uses pictures that belong to SG. Those pictures don't belong to SG until they become SOTD. Meanwhile, they are just hosting the pictures. BUT! Yes, there is a but for this particular problem... The picture DO belong to someone before SG buys them; and that is the photographer. One of the requirements for set submission is the model release the website prepares for the model and the photographers PERMISSION to display the set while in MR. So any serious photographer is in the obligation to fight for their work, if any unauthorized site displays their pictures. Believe me, I've done it countless times in the past. At the end, SG has a strong legal backup and we all can leverage on that to protect our work. I hope this situation does not desincourages models to keep up on their great job. But reality is, when a fantastic model like @hylia quits, they leave a great new place for new generation models. We can work all together to protect our work and keep rocking the world with the best fine art pictures! Cheers and don't give up! PS.
