In Exile by Thrice.   Thrice is my favorite band and the first time I heard this song it hit me to the core of my being.  The lyrics perfectly encapsulated how I felt at the time and the instrumentation was a perfect fit as well.

You could not have picked a more difficult question. If I had to pick one it would be Pink Floyd's Mother. As to the why, I guess I really like the overall theme. The music starts out simple and the guitar solo fits the song perfectly. To me the best music is the kind that can elicit an emotional response which is probably why I like Pink Floyd so much.
