I SING the Body electric;
The armies of those I love engirth me, and I engirth them;
They will not let me off till I go with them, respond to them,
And discorrupt them, and charge them full with the charge of the Soul.

Was it doubted that those who corrupt their own bodies conceal themselves;
And if those who defile the living are as bad as they who defile the dead?
And if the body does not do as much as the Soul?
And if the body were not the Soul, what is the Soul?

Thought of you: and this came to mind.
Wish I wrote this, but Walt Whitman did.....

Evening

The sky puts on the darkening blue coat
held for it by a row of ancient trees;
you watch: and the lands grow distant in your sight,
one journeying to heaven, one that falls;

and leave you, not at home in either one,
not quite so still and dark as the darkened houses,
not calling to eternity with the passion of what becomes
a...

That made me look up the german original. The rhymes are beautiful.

I try for my life to be a star in me more often than a stone. But it will always be both I guess. It gets harder, or maybe the stone gets heavier, the older I get.

Abend

If were going to quote Rilke I have to add one of my favorites to the mix...

[You who never arrived]

You who never arrived
in my arms, Beloved, who were lost
from the start,
I don't even know what songs
would please you. I have given up trying
to recognize you in the surging wave of the next
moment. All the immense
images in me--the far-off, deeply-felt landscape,
cities, towers, and bridges, and un-
suspecting turns in the path,
and htose powerful lands that were once
pulsing with the life of the gods--
all rise within me to mean
you, who forever elude me.

You, Beloved, who are all
the gardens I have ever gazed at,
longing. An open window
in a country house--, and you almost
stepped out, pensive, to meet me. Streets that I chanced upon, --
you had just walked down them and vanished.
And sometimes, in a shop, the mirrors
were still dizzy with your presence and, startled, gave back
my too-sudden image. Who knows? perhaps the same
bird echoed through both of us
yesterday, separate, in the evening...

Talk about your iconic images smile

Blue caustics playing on your legs and thighs make it seem you are emerging from the void.

But keep an eye out for the bear wink

Wow, I love the way the light plays through the waves onto your body. Incredibly artistic photo! love

Here's what I worry about ... our homegrown brand of loonies (the nut-job faction of dispensationalist Christian fundamentalists; those with a yen for Muslim blood, and waiting eagerly for the rapture) may gain enough power in the U.S. government that when their mirror image (the nut-job faction of Muslim fundamentalists) start lobbing a couple of black market nukes the situation will go out of control in short order, and we'll destroy the planet.

That will suck big time in the short term (perhaps a tad flippant, but considering the suicide of one's race is terribly depressing), but, who knows?, a couple of hundred thousand years from then whatever beings manage to stay alive and procreate will finally get this whole 'civilization' thing right.

yeah. it reminds me of "war games" that cheezy 80's film.

'Persephone and the Pomegranite' is particularly intriguing. She seems to be emerging from her winter home, but I'm wondering what the three stylized star-shaped figures emanating from her left hand represent? They appear to be seeking the outer boundary where reflections of hellfire transit to stars.

The First Tenet:
Clarity of Intention

The first tenet is called Clarity of Intention, and it places the outcome of the spiritual quest directly in your own hands.

In the teaching of evolutionary enlightenment, the individual is ultimately responsible for his or her own development. You may say that you want to evolve, that you want to become liberated or enlightened, but whether or not...

Fascinating. I visited his web page and I think his writings are worth exploring. But how does evolutionary enlightenment compare to, say, ethical culture? Or even Unitarian Universalism?

ive had this old song running around in my head for days.
this phrase here:

'Cos nothing has been done that can't be done
And nothing has been sung that can't be sung
And nothing has been said so go get out and play the game
It's easy

Nothing has been named that can't be named
And no one has been saved that should have...

Al and Tipper Gore had the band play it at their wedding (presumably, "The Beatles" version).
