That was pretty bold even for the self righteous christians. The only real problem I see in this is that she was letting her fear of you overrule her judgement.
It's too bad really. I've met some christians that are actually pretty nice folks without all the bigotry that seems to be rampant in those groups.
It does remind me of a cartoon I saw in playboy about 30 years ago, back when super-glued hair spikes were the big deal.
There were three spiked up kids and a little girl with her mother on a street corner. The little girl is looking at them and saying, "But Mommy, why do they dress like that if they don't want to be stared at?"
