I have been scanning film for about 5 hours now. Only to then realise I had a setting on that fucked everything up. So now I am doing it all again.

I love shooting film. I love sharing it with everyone in the world on the Internet. I fucking hate scanning. Hate it.

Please don't suggest I get them to do it at the lab....

"It's how I see the world when I close my eyes"

if I could ever reproduce what I see when my eyes are closed...wow. I don't even know how to finish that sentence.

Yes, scanning blows. But developing on your own isn't too great either. especially the rolling film onto the tank spool part. uggggh I fucking hate that.

Today the electricity got turned off. It is really amazing to me just how much of my life revolves around having electricity.

SPOILERS! (Click to view)
Let me spell it out:

* No coffee machine
* No oven
* No microwave
* No fridge/freezer
* No kettle (no way of boiling water)
* No lights
* No computer
* No internet
* No music

I've...

I just baked muffins. Espresso and cinnamon oatmeal muffins to be precise. Dairy free too. They are delicious. I really enjoy baking. I mean, it is one of my favourite things to do. It cheers me right up and helps me feel like I actually did something. I suppose it's the almost instant feeling of accomplishment as the fruit of the labour is ready so...

I suppose I update a lot when it feels like I want to be reaching out to the world.

I finished reading The Difference Engine by William Gibson and Bruce Sterling yesterday. It's a masterpiece and I'm not exaggerating. The whole essence of that alternate history captured my very being. And to think of all the research involved and the ingenuity of using real historic...

I was that customer in Starbucks just now. I sent back three drinks. Yes, three.

Is it really my fault that the "barrista" doesn't even know what I mean by "burnt coffee"? Luckily the manager is a super ace guy and took out the timer and made the perfect coffee. Problem is he didn't teach the damn girl how to do it. So she'll...

I don't personally know how to fix burnt coffee as it never happened to me but I did find that a lot of the baristas didn't stick to the ten second rule (something must be added to the shot ten seconds after it's poured or it oxidises and this affects the crema, aroma and taste - it usually makes it more acidic).

I sent you a package yesterday! It has a couple of things in it we promised to send you. xx

There's nothing worse than bad coffee, I think I'd do the same in that situation.

That said, I drink far too much of the stuff.

Fuck me I am loving Jelly Belly beans right now.

I am also deeply obsessed with history and art of the Industrial Revolution. Especially, how it started in Britain. I studied it many moons ago, and something recently brought it back up and I remember meaning to study it in more depth. I'm trying to soak up all I can.

I'll elaborate soon enough. I...

Yeah, you're used to the cold after the Yukon! There are some amazing opportunities for photos in Calgary, too. Yes, let's, sometime... something. Though I am not the most thoughtful photographer. It is not so much about creating as capturing for me.

Jelly Belly beans are awesome. I wish I could eat them without my insides wanting to die afterwards!!

Yuki's set is amazing love

The set I shot for Yuki way back in June 2005 is about to go live. Yes, you heard me right, two and a half years ago. It's black and white and I am really really proud of it. Still. It was the most fun set to shoot at the entire Villa escapade. And it is also the one that most sums up our time...

Okay, first photos from way up north in the Yukon in a moment. They're the first roll off my new vintage camera that I posted in my last entry.

Before that though I want to say that you guys are all wonderful. Thanks for the praise on Mal's set. It's great. Be sure to check out the set that went up today:
