Aw shit. That knocks the fucking wind out of you. Heartbreak is horrible, but not unique. I don't recall if it helps to tell yourself that most people have been through similar, kinda doubt it. Probably not much helps right now. Except maybe drugs and/or hugs I guess, here's a hug. Lean on friends &/or family, that's what they're for.

I almost always have travelled alone. I actually prefer it that way. It's nice to just be alone and not dependent on anyone or anything and just be forced to be... out there in a sense.

This was off the album "Deep Cuts" which is pretty good, with a few world music influences thrown in (such as the steel drums). The follow-up that came out last year, "Silent Shout", is much better as a whole. It evokes a feeling of winter and solitude. I highly recommend it. Particularly the title track and the track "We Share Our Mothers' Health," which made it onto my Best of 2006 mix.

Speaking of Zen, the Jose Gonzalez version was used to superior effect two years ago in an ad for the Sony Bravia TV. I'm not a corporate shill, but this is one of the most beautiful videos/commercials I've ever seen.
