Actually, doesn't the new dicount airline in Montreal do "buddy" price for second passenger?
EDIT: Nevermind that, it's a 5$ discount, nothing to write home about. ;-( Air Canada is 328$ for roundtrip to Newark, AA is 368$ for roundtrip to JFK.
