It must be good to have a neighborhood. Last time I experienced such a thing was in south St. Louis, where all the backyards were separated by chain-link fences yet connected by something else, as we mowed our lawns and filled our plastic swimming pools and, at night, sat outside with the Cardinals games on our radios and drank beer. Well, some people did.

I'm chewing Big Red. When I was a kid we had "Adam's sour grape" gum, which was the sourest, best, stinkiest gum around (eventhough the flaver only lasted about two seconds). My parents hated it because it would smel up the whole car. I loved it. It's by the same company that makes BlackJack gum, but I guess that they discontinued the sour grape. harumph. It was awful fun to see how many peices of hubbabubba one could fit into one's mouth, even though doing such was probably courting choking to death.

i heard some very, very bad news today. the brother of a good friend committed a heinous crime. nobody is dead, but nobody involved is doing terribly well. i don't know what to think. i didn't know anyone involved very well, but i feel terrible for my friend. his brother is in prison, and will be there for a long time. he's very closed off...

money, down the drain.. paid bills for the past few months, and realized again how poor we are. applied for a job with a yoga studio, but i don't know how good my chances are. i need to go apply for grad schools.

I try to read all your journal entries, but lately I've been kicking back up into 14 hr work day mode so I often have no words to share back. I do really love the poetry of your story. You create alot of empathy with your writing. I'm always wishing you all things good and hope deeply that you can find a way to make a living that, if it isn't totally uplifting (cause what job is...), at least pays your bills without leaving you depressed and without keeping you inside for too long...

I would recommend you look into photography, just from your descriptions the way you word things i feel like you could see things through a lense, you have the eye of the artist of this i have no doubt and you can certainly bring that to the fore in your writing, but i would bet that isnt the only place and the great thing about photography is it is so immediate especially if you use a digital camera or a polaroid(i lovee mine) photographs can instantly capture these vignettes that you capture in your writing also. just food for thought....
