I have been experimenting with dicing and drying veggies to add to portable soup. I’m *trying* to make something to the tune of a solid dried block or slice that I can just dump in water. It was a thing in 18th and early 19th century. A bouillon cube precursor that soldiers, sailors and explorers could bring along with them.


I mean rice plus a mix of say beef, onion, and mushroom or chicken, garlic, and red pepper plus a beef, chicken, or veggie broth?

Edit: Beef broth, broccoli and beef!


Plus they can all be dried to minimize weight. Could even pack them together to just need water.

Can also do it with tofu for a meatless choice
