Hey there everyone,
I am chilling on the computer at Zeke's house in Dunsborough,WA. Ill
let you in on some of the culture in my messages by throwing in slang that
ive heard, so you can all feel like you are down here. It is 10:40pm on
Wednesday. Things are going great. I have all of my legs still. I have
been doing really cool shit for the last couple of days. There have been
some highs and lows alerady. I checked out the Whale Shark thing.... wont
happen, cause the season for that is in March. On the bus ride down to
dunsborough, i got puked on by a baby projectile vomiting "chips" (fries) all
over the place. I didn't get a huge amount of sleep one of the nights in the
hostel, because the fat chick in the bunk above me was getting rooted (sexed
up) on and off again throughout the night, and the chick across from me was
dealing with a guy who was too drunk to root.....and that is the extent of
the bad stuff.
Now for the good. Other than the kid blowing chunks, the busride was
good. I had gotten all of my electronics sorted out with the new outlets
that I had to deal with so I had cool tunes the entire way, as well as about
10 episodes of lost at my disposal on my ipod. Driving out of Perth was a
little bit of a relief, because it was getting really rowdy with all the
brits that were arriving for the 3rd test (third game in a match of 5) of
cricket that was being held there. It was cool to meet some europeans at
first, but if I wanted to hang out with snobby pasty people, id have gone to
london. I want to hang with australians and shit. Get a taste of their
culture in their country. So I left a bunch of brits and irish in perth and
headed down to dunsborough to hang with Zeke (even though american, he knew
australians........and where to get tasty waves). Driving through the
country by bus was great. Got to see a lot of cool scenery, and was able to
talk to some locals. The bus ride took about five hours, but went by fast.
I arrived in Dunsborough and called Zeke.... he has adapted an
Australian accent, so on the phone I thought his roomates were screwing with
me and I wasn't gonna get picked up. He then showed up in quite possibly the
biggest pile of shit truck I have ever seen. He paid a case of beer for it.
He has long hair, and wears only boardshorts. It was fucking awesome. If
there is a muffler on it, there was obviously also an angry unicorn in it as
well, cause it has holed all over it. You could probably hear it coming from
California. We went straigt to the liquer store and got a carton of piss
(case of beers), and went to his house, which unlike his truck is beautiful.
He lives with three other surfers, and when I walked in they all were
screaming "here comes trouble". They immediatly had me sit down in the
middle of em all and starting asking me all about myself, they approved of me
within seconds, then we started to get pissed (drunk). We watched surf
videos and family guy for a while, then got a pizza and crashed. The next
morning we went surfing at a spot called "lefthanders" or "lefty's". Its a
popular surf break about 15 minutes north of Margret River and the
infamous "Box". Margret river is where that guy got chomped. It was onshore
winds, but the swell was solid chest high, and I surfed for two hours in my
trunks and rash guard. It was class (bitchin). The beaches here are white
sand and the water is the cleanest water ive ever seen and tasted. You can
see right through it, and it doesn't burn your eyes at all if you open em
under water. Its Beautiful. after screwing around there, we came back and I
picked up an almost brand new surfboard for 280 american dollars, with a set
of fins, leash, and tail pad. Quite a deal. We then got a few meat pies
(pot pies that are sold here like burgers are sold in the states), and went
to see some lawn bowling that the roomates compete in. It was just a bunch
of people from all classes in Dunsborough drinking piss and smoking cigi's.
All I did was watch, drink piss, and eat lamb hoagies with gravy on em. We
took it easy that night and woke up to the news of there being no swell to
speak of. Zeke and I went out and got some brekky meat pies, then headed off
to do some free diving. We ended up getting to Cape Naturaliste. You can
sit at the end of the cape and see the sun rise and set in the ocean. It was
really awesome. We got in the water a couple of times, but me mostly walked
along the rocky shore and went cave diving. We found about six small caves
and had a blast screwing around in em and taking ridiculous pictures of
ourselves looking like gollum from Lord of the Rings. Tonight we made dinner
at the house, and checked the swell to find a swell that is about 6-10 feet
that is starting to hit tonight, so we'll get some great surf tomorrow.
We're gonna try to get into the water by about 7:30, before the wind hits
it. Im anxious to surf my new board and a new spot. Ive got to go to bed
right now for some power sleeping, but Ill talk to you about all my stories
soon. Love everyone, and miss everyone. Stay classy and have fun in the
rain. Cheers.
