sharlyn:

so, yay, getting back in SD soon! and of course i want to see you, jon also gets back at the beginning of october. can't wait.
glass_cat:
Part of me enjoys watching fringe movies... the other part is firmly set a Clerks 2/Anchorman kinda comedy man...

this is part of the reason I like having movie nights with friends as otherwise I likely never wouldn't seen "Mulholland Drive" or "Havok."

Fun exercise: Go and watch "The Princess Diaries" (or, if you are like me, "Get Smart") and then "Havok" for a bit of Anne Hathaway wtf.
freakpirate:
Jody and I went to see City and Colour a little while ago and it was a fantastic show.

And I happen to like Alexisonfire thankyouverymuch.

tastycorpse666:
Great shoes!
r3x:

Rin proudly wrote...
I ate breakfast/showered before noon!

HOORAY! That's an accomplishment in itself! tongue

I miss the Old Globe. I used to frequent the place all the time, back in the day. Was in a full plays too.

I would give you a tiny list of movie recommendations, but I'm sure your friends can fill you in the must-sees and classics.

sugar_tsunami:
I was at a big music festival in Western Australia a while ago and got lost looking for the bathrooms. I wandered behind one of the huge bleachers and there was a TINY stage set up and City and Colour were playing. It was insane, such a small crowd compared to the thousands that were at the festival, but it was a sweet little show. I liked that even though he is super famous he was performing without ego or pretension.

I'm supposed to be tackling my to-do list today as well, but that it's 10.16am and I'm wasting time online doesn't bode well whatever
r3x:
Alrighty...

Vertigo is my fave Hitchcock movie. Blazing Saddles is all right for a slightly dated racist Western satire, but it's not for everyone. Das Experiment is a very disturbing film, for the simple fact that it can and HAS happened in real life (movie's loosely based on the Zimbardo Stanford Prison Experiment)... The Shape of Things is a fucked up boy-meets-girl movie based on the play; Rachel Weisz and Paul Rudd are in that. What else? hm. Bringing Up Baby. There's a classic!

That should do for now. smile I'm not sure what you like so I kept the current list basic. It can broaden a lot more once I know your preferences.
opticnerve:
When is it not hot in San Diego?

In the 10th grade, I put on a performance of 'Richard III' based in 1970s punk England.
opticnerve:
No way. There were 10 of us. It was the best high school English project ever. EVER.
apate:
Yeah, he is really funny. Always seeing him and James Franco in movies makes me want to watch Freaks and Geeks. So, that's what i did today.
quietlythere:
My to-do list is backed-up, very backed-up and getting that book out to you is at the top of that list frown

You and Kate look very cute in that picture. Is she really that tall, or is that just shoes making the difference?

You never saw Chinatown before? Or TGTBTU before??? We need to catch you up on movies!!!

baudot:
An insert like a physical mailing? Keen.

I think the publishing company that bought rights to it is partially owned by NetFlix, so that makes sense.

And cute as you always are, Katieesq is hot like whoah in that picture.
malloreigh:
i miss watching movies. i don't think netflix is available in canada... else i totally would... even with so many rad video stores near me!
malloreigh:
we can be divas and have our own vegas show.
malloreigh:
what is a diva-suit, exactly?
malloreigh:
that would also be perfect for a "bad sweater party". are you going to be back in canada around christmas?
ladyexxa:
Take pictures!! Nyarrrg!
baudot:
If she didn't live 2 hours away, I'd have to demand you introduce us. Instead, I'll have to insist you invent effortless teleportation first.
wadewalker:
Favourite old movies I'd recommend are The Sea Hawk, Angels with Dirty Faces, The Roaring Twenties, Murder My Sweet, Gun Crazy, The Treasure of the Sierra Madre, The Maltese Falcon, The Postman Always Rings Twice, Sunset Blvd, and White Heat.
Watching these you'll be surprised at how many old Bugs Bunny cartoon jokes suddenly make sense. biggrin
wadewalker:
That's awesome. White Heat is excellent. Though you should watch some of Cagney's older performances as a gangster first (he plays nearly the same role in The Public Enemy, The Roaring Twenties and Angels with Dirty Faces). White Heat was sort of his last hurrah as a gangster for Warner Brothers. tongue
irinka:
cute photo! Thank you for the comment on my set...hussy!
redmess:

I've used the B-Complex glass of water before and it works really well. I was so glad that it worked, especially after I realized I drank the entire bottle. eeek
I was just tired but it was a good day to lay around and be lazy with feerlessfreddy doing nothing but watching old movies on TCM. Yesterday was "Doris Day, Day" and it was a lot of fun.
I'm glad you had a good time out with your Katie. You looked great all dressed up. Enjoy your new shoes and skirt.
xoxo
quietlythere:
Did you get the text that I sent you yesterday?
xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo:
You are working through your to-do list? How very Rin-dustrious smile
drake:
CALGARY MISSES YOU

To be fair, you haven't been missing much, that was like our first event ever!

I love The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly! I feel like I've seen lots of movies, but I guess I haven't seen enough of the "main ones" because people I talk to are always aghast at what I haven't seen.
opticnerve:
I can't believe you're asking that question, after having met me.
quietlythere:
I just wanted to make sure that you got the message.
opticnerve:
You would. You were naked with her!
opticnerve:
Yeah, I'd vote for a return visit to those days.
opticnerve:
Make it happen. I'm tired of looking at Miley Cyrus wannabes.
opticnerve:
First order of business: way ahead of you.

Second order business: *retch*.
opticnerve:
No, no, my nose grows when I tell a lie. The bulge in my pants was something else entirely. shocked
opticnerve:
Don't pretend you didn't like it.
dorwayin:
That is a shame as kala is quite a great album.

Canadia has it's share of good music. Isn't Kittie from Canadia?
magpie:
you are a genius. i will go check it out stat. thanks yo!
opticnerve:
It's payback for putting the theme to 'The Littlest Hobo' on repeat in the iPod of my cerebral cortex.
opticnerve:
I await eagerly its arrival.
drake:
A multi with us and a Clint Eastwood cutout is the best idea for a set I've ever heard!
katieesq:
I had a dream last night that Pepin bit me on the eyebrow. Violently and repeatedly.
nuit:
Hahah, well it's not something I would put past myself.
but if it were the case don't you worry I'm pretty honest so people would know!

joydiv:
BTW, I did get around to watching the Joy Division documentary. And, you're right -- much better than 24 Hour Party People. TY for the recommendation. *god i love netflix*
irinka:

mat8drb:

linda duendecilla
wendy:

irinka:
I called you bitch!!!! You didnt answer .
weston:
You make a good point...One that I knew someone was going to point out after I read that back. But I still stand by what I said, more or less. I suppose my little rant was geared more towards the issue of illegal immigrants coming in from the south more than anything (Which is usually the big topic at all those rallies). The way I'm looking at it is this...If you are trying to become a citizen in this country, or trying to get your family, friends, or countrymen to become citizens, wouldn't it be better to show support for this country? To show love for it? I get that they are Mexicans; that they are proud of it, but when I see that sea of flags, the first thing that pops into my head is "If you loved that country so much, maybe you should go back."

I have Mexican blood in me, and I have European blood in me. I'm proud of my heritage, but I am, first and foremost, an American. I am an American who just happens to be of other things. When I see these people identifying with Mexico, as Mexicans who happen to be American (Or are trying to gain American rights), it just strikes a nerve with me. Like they are just using this country rather than being of it. It just bugs me blackeyed
drake:
I know you have good taste in music and pretty much everything!

When are you coming back to visit?
weston:
It's all good...Always up for a good debate and whatnot biggrin How have you been doing?
dhalita:
This girl Siv is beautiful , shocked I love you blush biggrin
tastycorpse666:
I am not sure how much of an honor it is. I forgot to add the last line that I just added, you might want to read that one. Ha! Thanks for your input mate!
Did you get my message?
tastycorpse666:
Did I say donate or did you say donate? Because I hate to give away what I can sell.
How is your hair doing?? Still letting it grow out?
