Since this is the beginning of my yearly BMX-killing, I needed to take one of my bikes out today for a spin to see where I'm at strength-wise (since I DID gain some weight over the winter). Since my ass now has its own gravitational pull, I needed to adjust my use of backswing put into things like bunny hops... but let's start out small. I rode around the yard a few times, hit the street and did about a kilometre of tooling around on the bike
In the fall, I built a fence across the end of my driveway to keep my dogs in the yard. It proved to be relatively ineffective, but DID break my fall when I ran straight into it today. After fifteen years of living in this house without that fence, I instinctively attempted to breeze past it. My walkway is concrete, but not the flat kind - it's specially textured for grip, blahblahblah. Basically, it really cuts you up if you fall on it. So I ended up with a leg pinned into/under my BMX, half in my walkway garden, half on the walkway with my other foot tangled in this fence. Luckily I saved my hands, but my elbows and legs took a pretty nasty beating - especially my right knee, which is now home to absolutely no skin and a whole lot of bruising (sexy pics soon)... oh, and I'm having to pay another visit to mr. knee brace! Lucky I have him around for my plethora of yearly springtime leg injuries.
Anyway... I'll be continuing to get into 'training' mode so I can play around properly with my bikes this year, and I'll probably blog about it for no reason other than the fact that it's one of the more fun things I do and I like keeping track of my days through it.
For now, though, back to icing my knee!
