Yay!
My wine arrived
I went a bit mad and ordered a case of wine from Virgin wines, since I figured if I'm going to pay 5 a bottle in the supermarket (fairly standard) anyway, I may as well choose stuff I think I'm going to like and get it delivered.
They also give you a list of tasting notes for each bottle, so you can pretend you know what you're talking about when you drink it....unaided, I can just about tell "red" from "white".
Most of it's fairly cheapy stuff, but I threw in a bottle of chateuneuf du pape on the grounds that I've never tried it - wayyyy to expensive to drink in restaurants. I like strong fairly heavy reds so I'm looking forward to trying it.
Now all I need is someone to drink it with
Later...
Just came back from my run (absolutely shattered...thanks for asking ) and was musing about the exercise they used to make us do in high school. We had a thing called the school mile, which basically involved running around the block, which they made everyone do once a week.
For the kids who were fit anyway, the distance was trivial, and for the ones who weren't it was a mind-numbing, heart-burning nightmare, which can't have significantly added to our fitness level and served only to humiliate and put us off exercise for the rest of our lives.
I can honestly say I never once voluntarily did something for the sake of exercise the entire time I was in high school (ok, a little jiu jitsu). Yet, as soon as I left and went to college, when no-one was forcing me any more, I started going to the gym 3 times a week and training aikido whenever I could.
I guess you can lead a horse to water, but you can't make it run. No, wait, yes you can....um....never mind.
