Dead Space - Xbox 360 | PS3 | PC - ( )
For those who've played this game, you know how awesome the horror and suspense is, not to mention those times where your head just spun at how impossible some of the problems seemed and all while fighting off a hoard of mutants!
Most of the storyline is explained simply with a spoiler tag infected paragraph but here it goes;
Set in the distant future, Dead Space revolves around Isaac Clarke, a space engineer who works for the Concordance Extraction Corporation (C.E.C.), a company that operates giant mining ships throughout the galaxy. When the C.E.C. receives a distress call from the USG Ishimura, a "Planet Cracker"-class ship that destroys planets in order to extract valuable ore, Isaac and four other C.E.C. employees set out on the USG Kellion to rendezvous with the Ishimura in orbit above Aegis-7, all the while assuming that a mechanical failure is the only problem. At the same time, Isaac repeatedly watches a video sent to him by his girlfriend, Nicole Brennan, who is currently onboard the Ishimura.
Shortly after crash landing on the Ishimura flight deck, they are attacked by hostile creatures called Necromorphs. These creatures reproduce by infecting deceased human bodies, violently mutating them into one of their own. Isaac escapes, but is seperated from the rest of the team; Kendra Daniels and Zach Hammond are the other surviving members. As Isaac progresses through the Ishimura and fixes the various problems associated with it,
Kendra and Hammond discover the main cause of the outbreak is due to a supposedly ancient, alien artifact found on Aegis-7 called the Marker, which is onboard the Ishimura.
Unfortunately, the Valor picks up an escape pod
who reveals the existence of the Hive Mind, the controlling force of the Necromorphs, and pleads with Isaac to help him return the Marker to the planet. The Marker had contained the Hive Mind, but was freed when the artifact was removed and Aegis-7 "cracked open".
Before Isaac can rendezvous with Kyne,
This marker was made for the express purpose of experimenting with, and replicating the original alien technology which resulted in the creation of the Necromorphs. After she reveals this information Kendra escapes, taking the Marker with her. Fortunately, Isaac meets up with
Overall the game was decent and of course, fun, in the end you realize that after going through the game you are no longer curious as to what is going on or worried if things are going to pop out rather than just frustrated you can't skip certain scenes and have to deal with stupid tasks just to get to the meat of the game.
Overall: 8/10
