It sucks to be back...
So we got back into town late Thursday night. Drove in through a snowstorm on icy roads after spending the week in shorts out in nice, warm California. Had my first day back at work on Friday and it sucks already. It was nice to see some people, but when your boss starts the day by telling you that not one, but two people in your department are no longer employed there and you've gotta pick up their slack (including working another shift on your day off), it makes for a less than cheery homecoming.
For anyone who hasn't heard the news, British Invasion, the fest I went to last weekend, turned into a full scale riot. My friends and I are all OK, I got a few lungfuls of tear gas and my roommate was threatened with a shotgun, but that's about the worst stuff that happened directly to us. We were pretty lucky, all in all. There were four of us there, Zero got separated from the rest of our group, but made it back to meet us OK. We were parked just a few yards down from the infamous Jack In The Box that was trashed, but the car was untouched. Three of us were right in the main crowd where all the shit went down and none of us got beaten by truncheons or gassed very badly. We missed out on the bands we really wanted to see and had to leave quickly in order to avoid being arrested, but I really can't complain too much, since we're all OK and not incarcerated.
The rest of my time out there was fun, if not what I had planned. We saw some cool areas, hit some record stores, met some SGs and hung out with some good people. I even got to see a little bit of Vegas on our way out there since we stopped off for a few hours in order to reach the area of California we were heading to at a reasonable hour instead of the early morning it would have been otherwise. I've never been to Vegas before, so it was an interesting experience even at three a.m.

did you get any photos of the mess?
and it's always tough to come back to "reality" after a vacation, riot-filled or not!
