Well, I was sick for a miserable few days, but things have started looking up today. Apparently it was just really bad timing. My usual PMS-related sickness got lumped together with allergy- and sinus-related sickness. Those things combined made for some really crappy times. I am currently in love with sinus drugs. They are truly wonderful things.
Tonight we had a guest speaker in my late afternoon/night class: one of the investigative reporters from the local media. He's one of the people I can actually stand to listen to for more than 30 seconds. After listening to a lot of his stories and his entire speech, I'm pretty well set in my decision that mainstream, hard news journalism is not the path for me. There's no way that I can stop supporting or opposing certain causes, but to be a journalist, I'd have to do that or compromise my personal ethics.
Of course, freelancing for music newspapers and magazines would seem to still be an option. I can't see how my political and social views would affect my ability to write a concert or CD review or a band interview...
OK, let me stop rambling and pretend to write this paper and proposal that are due tomorrow.

Funny, I just saw some link on one of the MSN pages to some story. It was called, "Why cliches are a 24/7 bummer," or something dumb like that.
I often wonder how many smart, idealistic young people get into journalism planning to devote their lives to divulging The Truth, then wake up one day to find themselves reciting White House press releases for FOX. Depressing huh? Probably about the same number as those who graduate from music school and end up writing jingles for JC Penny.

That is to say, I'm feeling fine. There is but one stress in my life right now, and that is tax. How are you?
