I recently had the pleasure of viewing the Miss Universe contest. Actually not much on tv that day. So why not check out beautiful women from different cultures. Cant hurt, right! You see i personally have a unique definition of what beautiful really is. Being attractive to me is standing out. Why drive a Ford Taurus, when you can drive a GTR? Being attractive itself is the art of standing out! Which do you notice more? Blue eyes or brown? Cant stop looking at that redhead? Probably cause you don't see them much. Different is attractive! I learned 3 things from this pageant. 1. Steven Tyler is really old. 2. Panic at the Disco may be homosexuals. And 3. having a daring look doesn't pay at the Miss Universe contest! Most of the finalist seemed to have basically the same features. Almost as if the girls with the daring haircuts, and wilder looks where punished. (side note: Miss Russia haircut was awesome) Most of the girls where tall, slim, with Caucasian features. Even the females from Asia and African nations seemed to look this way.
Enter the Suicide Girls. A collection of women from around the world that don't exactly look the same as a typical model would. These women as a whole are considered beautiful. But what makes them that way? Is it the tattoos, the piercings, nudity, or the fact they are willing to challenge the status quo? While still not considered mainstream they're effect on todays culture is slowly being felt. The power of SG's is the ability to challenge. The ability to show that beauty sometimes comes in a different box. You don't have to be Heidi Klum to be attractive! The pure art of expression is attractive. The challenge is attractive. Being different from the norm is attractive. They may currently be the purest form of female empowerment.
