last night went to see 'the little dog laughed' at second stage playhouse. it was pretty much a preview so the auditorium was packed full of industry insiders and actors (saw James Earl Jones, Liev Schreiber, etc.) so the evening was a little more special for it. the play itself, a farce based on life imitating art in two acts was very much weakened by act I. Act II somewhat remedied things but in the end one wonders what the use of it all is. Even though there were plenty of very funny moments and I laughed my ass off, the writing was a little weak.
regardless, I love the theatre!
