Time for that more substantive update.
As mentioned, I've now moved to Wales. The trip went surprisingly smoothly, and though it was very long (total travel time from leaving home until getting to my flat in Cardiff was 22 hours), subsequent trips won't be quite as arduous. In theory, anyway.
I may have up to 4 flatmates, but so far only two have showed up. The bedrooms aren't particularly large, but they're very well designed. The bathrooms, on the other hand, have been judged and found decidedly lacking. The only good part about it is that I have one all to myself, but that doesn't make up for much, considering. Oh well.
The city itself has been rather enjoyable so far. The first full day, I wondered around by myself with no real destination, and purposely got lost a few times. Now I know my way around this part of the city fairly well, even though I haven't found some stores that I will inevitably need at some point.
I've gone out the last 3 nights running. Of course I've met a lot of fun people, though I'm starting to get socially tired. I think I need to take a day's break before I burn out. Tomorrow, perhaps. Of course, inevitably, there's a girl. And, inevitably, I'm already in the "good friend" zone with apparently no chance. Still, though, the friendship will be great. We've ended up coming back and talking over tea for several hours after the bars every night. I'm so pathetic sometimes. ><
Also, music here is AMAZING. I already have tickets to see DragonForce in December, and there are a ton of sold out shows between now and then that give me lots of hope of more great metal shows to come. I'm probably going to go dirt-poor going to shows while I'm here, but that's okay. Worse things have happened.
Plus, I don't have to start working until the 1st, at least. Ha!
I should be getting a mobile phone next week sometime. I need to get some paperwork back from my bank. So, question to you UK folks: Any recommendations? I've gone around to look at the different plans available from different companies, but that hardly replaces personal experiences from people who have used them.

As far as the girl is concerned, it's new, it's nice, and for once she seems as into me as I am into her. We'll see how this goes.
