If you live in the DFW area, and you haven't been to the Kimbell to see the Hatshepsut exhibit, YOU NEED TO GO. It runs until 31 December, and I plan to go back as often as possible. I paid for the audio guide thing, which was great. I recommend using it. There were huge statues, and little block statues, false doors and other blocks chiseled out of buildings, bits of papyrus...all kinds of wonderful artifacts. I liked the large statues and the sarcophagus the best of all. The entire exhibit was fucking amazing.
It was clever of the museum to position the exhibit gift shop so that you have to go through it to exit. I bought a couple of postcards and a small statue of a Bastet cat. Bastet is the goddess of joy and the protector of women. It's lovely, and I need to go back to get the other little statues they had of Osiris, Anubis, and a few others. I also def need the exhibit book. It has pictures of all the pieces in the exhibit, and all the information about them and the history of Hatshepsut's reign.
So! Srsly. If you haven't been, you need to go. I'm also stoked for the Marilyn Monroe exhibit the Women's Museum in Dallas will be showing later. I think it starts in October? I don't remember.
Hooray pour les musees!
(Is that even syntactically correct? Oh well.)

Glad you finally got to make the exhibit. Sounds really cool, plan to make it over there next month. I missed the big Ramses exibit several years ago, so will def have to check this out. The Marilyn exhibit will be great too.

Yeah, totally missed it. They had all the Dino crap back in there when I went this last weekend.
