Wow, we played our second show at Mable's in Denton last night. We' were scared it would suck b/c its a weird location with a weird reputation, so we were like, "Shit, lets just treat it like another rehearsal." So we get there, right, and one band doesn't show, and the headliner, some stuck-up band from Austin came and didn't want to play b/c the PA sucked and they were too "good" for it, so they bailed and went back to Austin... whatever, fuck 'em.... I hate shitty local bands that act like they're fuckin' rockstars... take a reality check... you play for an average of a $1 per member per hour... if you're lucky... so just get over it.
So, the promoter is like, "It's all you guys." And we we're like, "Ok, but you keep the alcohol flowing all night." And then... Jesus on a mother fucking pogo stick, people actually showed... way more than we expected to. And then we drank too much on stage and had an awesome informal show that felt more like a summer night party on the porch than a "real" gig, but it was way cool... good times had by all. Some local magazine dude wanted to review our demo, our drummer got half naked while on stage, a few tables got up and started a congo/line dance, and the door guy got on the mic after we were putting up and demanded that we do a second encore playing our "signature" song that we had just opened with AGAIN, b/c we we're out of tunes and didn't know anymore covers (hey, it's a new band, we only got so much shit to work with here).
All in all, a decent show... especially considering it was our second gig.
Long story longer, we agreed that this is the band that we have all always wanted. Not a bad deal for us, not at all. I expect good things.
Come see us at the Curtain Club on Thursday...
The line up is: Brother TX, Sewanee (that's us), Sweet Lee Morrow, Raleigh. 17+ admitted. Door charge is $9 for minors, $6 for 21+. Doors at 9:00. All great bands (SERIOUSLY, I checked their mp3's), so stay the whole night, itll be worth it. We go on at 10:00, but we'll be hangin' out for the whole night as Raleigh rocks the Kazbar yo.
Keep low, kids... but rock it loud.
