Sometimes I don't get this site. It paints itself as an intelligent, forward thinking, counter-culture site, but more often than not, I see the threads turn into either 1. Pointless arguments over semantics or over a topic not worthy of attention, or 2. A "Hey, let's see how many funny quips we can make" thread regarding a serious topic.
i have absolutely no problem with her feeling offended about it. I really don't, but to SUE over it. Being an ex-drug user i am offended by the way movies glorify coke and other drugs. Being an alcoholic i am offended by the way drinking makes the main character in any movie "tough". I am offended that people assume that since i have tattoos and piercings that i am a bad person. I am offended by the fact that i have to take my piercings out to even be considered for a job. I am offended that people assume that since i live with my parents i am a "loser". I am offended by the fact that every time someone says "single parent" it's automatically assumed to be "single mother". I am offended by the fact that child services doesn't believe me when i tell them i have full custody of my daughter and i have to prove it with paperwork. I am offended by the fact that Medicaid won't give me financial assistance because i make too much money, on unemployment. I am offended by Affirmative Action that a less knowledgeable person can continually have the upper hand over me, simply because of their color.

I could totally understand if the couch company used the term in an offensive manner. But it was more than likely a fucking misprint, or translated extremely poorly. Being primarily German and watching the family i have over there translate e-mails into english, you'd be fucking AMAZED at some of the racists remarks they make according to the translation, but i realize the meaning is lost in translation. I have no fucking clue how they can take offense to something like that, and then do NOTHING when the word is used in a derogatory manner by someone in their own race.
If you lost respect for me, that's fine. There is no fucking constitutional law that says she has the "right" to be offended. This is worded perfectly if you ask me.
And I shit on musicals. The idea came more from the moment I realized that women play a significant role in just about every part of the epic - it seems as though there's always a woman present, and often contributing to the events. So it will be the largely a series of monologues or interactions from the women, telling their part, or describing the action. Sort of an "I was there, this is how it went down" only cooler.
Damn, I'm a guilty party of the accusation. I misread the title and falsely accused you of a lack of humor but as the rest of the audience can see this BURBLEBURBLEBURBLEBURBLEBURBLE stuff is hilarious.
don't ever apologize for challenging my opinion. My opinion is just that, an opinion. I just assume have a rational conversation over something so maybe i can expand my knowledge rather than be stuck in the same box for the rest of my life, it's why i claim to be open minded.
Usually if i say something and it looks stupid, it's because i don't understand the conversation. I didn't understand some of the things that were being said in the thread but i do now. Like i said, a rational conversation will go much further than name throwing, i'll either agree to disagree with you, or actually maybe even change my opinion of something if you prove me that wrong. Believe it or not, I like learning and i like trying to see things from other people's point of view.
But on another note, you were mean you dumb dumb head and you made me cry!
