Tonight I went to a presentation at the college that was called "The God Delusion" This presentation included a video that was the debate between Professor Richard Dawkins (representing the atheist wold-view) and Doctor John Lennox (representing the Christian world-view). Both men argued heatedly over the view of Christianity and how it pertains to people's morals and beliefs in evolution and creationism. Of course, they both spoke very intelligently about their topics, but I, being an atheist, thought that Dawkins had definitely won the debate. THe video was interesting in itself, if a bit long (you can view it here if you have few hours: http://www.dawkinslennoxdebate.com/ )
Unfortunately, it was a sly ploy by the Christian club at the college to get us to join their religion. After the video there was to be a discussion, and there was- a few people commented on the movie, but after about 5 minutes of comments, the guest speaker putting on the presentation got right into how Jesus saved him, and how he found faith in God. Immediately, everyone figured out the real reason for the presentation and started arguing with the speaker about how he had deceived us, and asking him about questions that Christianity brings up, like how old the Earth is, and generally asking him how he knew he was right. So, it really got interesting after that. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if they're arguing still. But a lot of people did walk out after he started rambling on about Jesus. All in all, I have learned my lesson about going to presentations about god at a college, especially one in a very conservative town. A funny thing about it was when a some dumb..er.."misguided" Christian dude started talking about evolution, he stared by saying.."So when a female and a male bacteria got together, that made the first life...blah,blah,blah....so in evolution that means we're all bacterias and not humans..." I could only laugh.

i always love how christians COMPLETELY ignore science. i personally dont believe in a GOD per se, but if one did exist, I can't understand why it couldnt have made evolution happen. ive always seen the bible as an adults version of aseops fables. just stories to teach. i havnet gotten to watch religulous yet, but it is definately something i would love to see. maybe ill watch that video you posted too.
