Just remember: the truth is exactly the opposite of what a politician says.
It seems like this would be an appropriate place to point out that the "war on sexuality" is so obviously a method of control. Everyone here should at least be aware that politicians are working directly for corporations and corporations exist for no other purpose than to make us buy things. So, by induction we should gather that politicians are working to get us to buy more things. Bush was honest at least once in his life when he famously said right after 9/11, "Go shopping" as a way to somehow combat future exploding buildings.
The shameless tragedy is that this goverment is pursuing a strategy that emphasizes abstinence because, of course, abstinence doesn't work. You are working against nature by advocating abstinence. Abstinence literally means no sex. Or, I suppose it could be argued that abstinence in this case is no sex before marriage. Marriage is of course an artificial institution. Fundamentalists will argue that marriage is certified by their god, but the rest of the animal kingdom has been doing it just fine without the benefit of marriage for a long time, even when we were no different than those monkeys from which we descended.
By insisting on abstinence politicians realize that they will cause frustration and hardship, which are great ways to get people to buy more stuff. Unhappy people tend to buy more things. Look at all the bored, catatonic people at the mall; this is one of the saddest groups of people I have ever seen in my life. The consequences are really horrific however, because insistence on abstinence will never lead to less sex, it will simply confuse and criminalize sexual acts. Telling gay people that their "lifestyle" is morally wrong leads to more gay people having sex under the influence of drugs and alcohol as they drown out their accentuated self loathing. Telling kids that they should not have sex at all until marriage will not keep kids from having sex but will in fact lead to more kids having unsafe and unhealthy sex, sex without condoms and sex under risky conditions, and sex with the wrong people, because these kids will be conditioned to believe that a bad act is not appropriate to do with people you care about or who care about you. But, we know two wrongs won't ever make it right.
The same can be said about every "war" that governments and politicians attempt to wage ostensibly for whatever reason. The "war on drugs" has not succeeded in reducing drug usage; it has criminalized a whole class of people who are have probably convinced themselves they are worthless because they cannot "just say no" and many other people who might otherwise have shown them compassion are now convinced of basically the same thing. Remember, if you have drug problems, why don't you enjoy some more beer, like this one, held by sexually promiscuous women in alluring situations advertised by company owned by a right wing politician who is absolutely committed to moral values. Or, perhaps you would appreciate an FDA approved drug to help you with your embarassing erection problems (we had a leak at the doctor's office; everyone knows by the way); side effects include erections lasting longer than 24 hours and once in a blue moon your achilles tendon might explode.
Or, dare I go into the "war on terror?" Scaring people conditioned to expect armaggeddon is just too easy. We all know we are sinners and if we truly believe in the existence of hell, we are sure we will be going there, so might as well live it up here on earth. Triple mortgage, ok! Extra fries, sure! Give me the full year subscription to Suicide Girls, the volume discount is worth it!
My hypothesis extends to just include about every politician in this game, mind you. Right wing television hosts love to glower over anyone who suggests that Bush Co. has conspired to create this situation. "Are you actually saying that Bush was directly responsible for 9/11, that he knew beforehand?!?!?" they scream into their microphones with glee, knowing full well that you are damned if you do, damned if you don't. Either way the rest of the corporate media will repeat the insinuation. So, in this situation I would say, given the chance, "Yes! Absolutely! Bush knew and directly created this mess we are in!"
Can you imagine the shock on their faces? They would explode with joy, but they would not be expecting my counter punch. "What evidence do you have, what conspiracy theory pulled from some wingbat leftist website do you have there?" I would reply, as the words "leftist is a common synonym for homosexual meth addict" scrolls by on the bottom of the screen, "He prayed for it. Bush's entire cabal, from Perle to Wolfowitz, all plotted about the transformation of the middle east, and all have envisioned war there and war here. They prayed and plotted it. Don't you believe in the power of thought, in the power of prayer?"
Of course, leftists will suggest that this argument has holes in it, that these power hungry men aren't praying for war, but planning for it, and O'Reilly would pick it apart. But, the true believers would understand upon hearing it, I think, although their addiction to war and suffering, as they have been taught over the years, would make them powerless to react. But, I think it would be the first time they would think about prayer and the things that our leaders pray for, and how this might affect their lives. And, if they truly believed in prayer, and truly believed in the words of their god, then their eyes might open just a tiny bit, just enough to start seeing.
