below are just some of the things I've been pondering & interested in to see/do during my mid-April O'ahu vacation :)
...some of these I know I'll have to set up/reserve ahead of time/before I arrive
though I don't want to plan my ENTIRE 7 full days there, I have a habit/like of doing things randomly as possible ( weird of me, I know, I know! )
& some of these I could do in a few hours here & there, randomly/as I feel like it as I wander, I know, too
...of course, I'm open to even more ideas & suggestions, too - I keep discovering more every week that I could check out/do! *laughs* :D
Pearl Harbor Memorial/Monument/Museum ( including USS Arizona )
Kualoa Ranch ( including Jurassic & film tour(s)! ) - would be nearly a full-day excursion if done right
O'ahu Island Tour ( including Byodo-In Temple, if possible ) - would be nearly a full-day excursion if done right
Diamond Head Crater/Monument ( I'll be able to walk here easily )
Honolulu Zoo & Waikiki Aquarium ( I'll be closer to these than walking to a store from home is *laughs* )
Nat'l Memorial Cemetery/Punchbowl ( cemetaries have a weird place in my heart, even if I haven't been to ones actual relatives & friends are buried at )
'Iolani Palace ( I like my historical sites, I know - I'm weird that way )
WWI Natatorium ( I know it's closed/in disrepair, but I'll be within walking distance & its history has intrigued me )
local restaurants & statues & parks & beaches ( obviously, especially the latter which'll be right across the street *grins* )
...ANY recommends on these or others, please let me know! - like the O'ahu Island Tour, I've seen MANY possibilities available online!
hard to gauge the "best" ones without being a local and/or knowledgable in O'ahu & Hawai'i, I admit
I've never been a fan of winter, even though it took me years to get this far south ( I know, southern MN isn't that far south, but it's a big state and I'd lived in the far-northern part of it for awhile! )
admittedly, this winter hasn't been as killer as it usually is but it has been below freezing albiet not much below zero
no mutant-killer blizzards albiet enough snow to cause some walking issues in the area
nonetheless, it's still been a pain-temp winter - though I doubt I'll see a 45+ winter in my lifetime *shrugs*...
at least, not around the upper midwest, that's for certain ;)
workwise has been a li'l bit weird of late
it's our usual 'slow season,' not that my work has been slowed since I started there over a decade ago ( I've always got something on my docket :) )
we had a couple people leave us, not that they made that big an impact but it did mean a shift in responsibilities & priorities
...and a couple new employees being trained to partially replace those that left ( or those that shifted into those that left's positions )
homewise nothin' too unusual - my eldest is already prepping for her entering HS next year, having to choose her schedule already
if I could get the ex & the girls out of where they live, I would - it's not good for them or the girls, but until I win a lottery, I know she wouldn't accept a penny from me :)
relationshipwise, well... same as it's been for most of my life *laughs*
never known why people expect otherwise from me *shrugs* - I've only had 1 of 4 relationships last longer than 40days... and I was married to that one *smirks*
but people ask and so I keep them in the already-known ;)
ANYways - I never did make any New Years' anything, resolution or otherwise
last year's "write a poem a day" failed pretty early, even though I DID write 399 peoetica in 2018 it wasn't a poem-a-day :)
this year I'd figure my "big thing" is the upcoming O'ahu trip, though I'll still have to figure out what to do for the rest of my vaca time to utilize before Sept
...another roadtrip, likely, if I can afford a car rental
where I'll be going, who knows... but that's the fun of a roadtrip :)
either way, O'ahu is gonna be one helluva fun trip :D

twittage ::
12/30 : beyond waking up to a nosebleed this am, the sinus thing appears well subdued (so far) - almost no pressure, very little coughing, throat/mouth are dry but not unusual *shrugs*... again, this is just so far this morning *crosses fingers*
(cont): yeahhh - a few more degrees & then I'll consider voyaging out... just a few more :)
12/30 II : survived the walk - overheated w/ too many layers, largely successful except out of medicinal teas entirely & didn't know when they'd be restocked :( ... fyi : just because a stream has fresh tracks across doesn't mean it'll support your weight - only ankle-deep, thankfully
12/31 : don't speak english, cool - but it will have me wondering how you intend to have friends/meet people outside your community in a country where the de facto language is english
pretend not to speak english to not speak to a 'gringo' because of bs assumptions, I have zero respect
12/31 II : what would be the incentive behind doing a "pic a day," beyond that of seeing just how much I change over a year's time ? ...if that's all, I could do the same with a "pic a week," couldn't I ?
1/1/19 : one helluva temp drop since I crashed for the eve - starting the new year shivering my fool ass off... but only ~105 days 'til I'm getting ready to board a flight to O'ahu <3 :D
1/1 : Quote-A-Rama
"why is the carpet all wet, Todd?"
"but the saw, the saw is family!"
"oh, here's a fun fact: you made out with your sister, man!"
"it was only a couple flipper babies!"
"oh, man. I'm sensing something very canadian about this place"
"lately, we've been playing music by this chap named Bieber, gosh, you should hear the screams"
