Just as I've always had an aversion to the cold, even before the damage which makes it particularly painful, I've had a physical predilection towards particular scents and textures...
and aversions in the same regard
certain scents & textures can have completely physical affects upon me - positively, but more often, it seems, negatively
an example is that godsawful... smell... which arises from subway - the locations themselves and the smell of their... products...
that scent is intense and causes nigh vomititious reactions, I can always tell when I'm even near a subway
the scent also lingers upon those who've recently eaten of their specious 'foods' lending me to avoid them until the reek fades - which takes a long time, as it has a tendency to exude from their pores for hours upon hours
*ugh*
silk, quite sadly, is a texture that nigh causes physical inability to move... the sound of it when something touches it combined with the physical sensation and I end up quite frozen
*sighs* unfortunate because it looks quite lovely on many - but takes a good amount of pressure, sensation, and desire to approach it purposefully
opposingly, the scent of lavender has a... wonderous and distracting... sensation upon me - I often inundate myself with the scent to try to prevent myself from immediate reactions, to control said responses
in the past I've found myself distractedly following an individual wearing the scent before I even realized I was doing so, particularly brain-fried I was from it
( and, of course, the particular unsaid physical reaction which would be quite obvious to anyone who looked if I hadn't smelled it recently *sighs* )
so - yes - it can be a VERY good scent, but can cause VERY bad situations if not paid attention to and kept in control
the texture of velvet I find wonderous as well, but the sensation quite less so than the lavender scent
( though in conjunction, would probably be deliritiously dangerous - thankfully that hasn't been tested ! )
I call it "touch-me cloth" because that's exactly what I immediately want to do to those who are wearing it - not them, but the velvet itself, mind you !
not that a lovely in velvet wouldn't be unquestionably touchable *laughs* :D
other scents I particularly enjoy are fresh-cut grass, well-cooked-but-not-burnt bacon ( duh! ), and fresh asphalt ... all happy scents !
other textures I adore are leather and denim ... the latter weirder than the former, perhaps, depending on what feels about it *shrugs*
as for scents I also and often immediately react nauseatingly to vegetables, some fish, a particular meat ( I always forget what it's called ), and some asiatic foods & spices ( particularly if coupled with fish )
I can't offhand think of any other singular textures I react badly to, but combinations of liquid and solid I abhor together - particularly in a food sense ( or 'former food,' if you get my meaning - the sound of which is also immediately nauseating )
I used to have a particular fondness for heat - even extreme heat - in my youth, though since my daughters were born, neither of which handle high heat well, I've adapted to semi-cooler temperatures
I can no longer thoroughly enjoy the 90s and higher like I used to, though a cool 80s is nice, mid-70s nigh perfection ( maybe age has a factor as well? *shrugs* )
below 70s I am not particularly a fan - and anything below 45 is plain painful... 40 and below causing immediate headaches due to my head-damage ( though higher temps with a cold wind will do the same )
hilariously, I'm a "human radiator" - as multiple people, most includingly the ex-wife, have informed me unquestionably *laughs*
it doesn't mean I keep warm, but it means I was a 'snuggle-source' to particular people wanting to warm up in the past ( animals as well *grins* )
...and those who can't stand heat would push me away - if not outright toss me ( aye, it's happened before, being literally tossed off of bed and furniture alike for being "too warm" for them )
- it also appears my daughters have inherited somewhat my "radiative" abilities, though not to my "too-hot" extent :)
twittage ::
7/14 : "how come every time I see you you're either smiling or look so happy?"
because even when things are bad or down, there's ALWAYS something to smile or laugh about - even the darkest things can be laughably absurd or have an amusing touch to them, even if only memories !
7/15 : worst reality show that I've ever seen ? that'd have to be that 44th presidency thing... *yeesh* worst acting ever, couldn't keep lines straight on episode-to-episode basis, plotline was absurd & hateful, anti-PD/pro-criminal spin made no sense, writers obviously ill-educated
7/18 : I am not now nor likely will I ever fall into a particular political spectrum as my opinions piss off both parties depending on the issue at hand - amused that DemoCraps think I'm too conservative & RepubliCan'ts think I'm too liberal *laughs* ... annoying yet fucking hilarious!
7/19 : new wireless router/modem now running - with only a minor hiccup (had to call so they could verify the new modem - and it helps if I plug into the right port... the old one only had the one port for phone/dsl !) ... already running much faster - and wireless appears better, too
7/20 : yes, I used to threaten to staple antlers to the heads of people's children (amongst other humour-tinged 'threats')... but, as time went by, I learned better - wood screws are a far better alternative !
7/21 : if you can't 'judge' the president to same standards you 'judged' previous presidencies - in-house actions, statements, support/enforce laws, & administration of their position - then your anti-presidential statements are nothing more than hatred espoused, biased & hypocritical.
7/27 : it's the last weekend in July and it's a full moon ... but my only goal is to crash a bit early this eve - I never said I was an interesting, engaging person... 99% of the time I'm pretty demn boring, believe it or not! ( "Olde Man Wolfox Rhose" - to sleep, perchance to dream )
7/30 : 'Unofficial Potentially Violent Protester Warning' for those in the north Minneapolis and northern suburbs ... that's new, though I suppose I'm not too surprised after this morning's release of info regarding the justification of the recent shooting - my walk can wait ;)
7/31 : the hell, brain... were you storing up as many dreams as possible just so you could play them last night ? (wow) - I think you even mixed a few up just for the helluvit !
(cont.) : one particular of last night's dreams stood out :
a film starring a grey-haired, muscular Elvis & a whimsical Monroe as a couple living in a huge Shanghai flat with an alley running through it, Monroe beloved by local homeless & Elvis a (retired?) biker, both caught up in a local spy-styled caper
