An offshoot/spin-off of Doctor Who, introducing a being/species called (the) Time Trader, who has been selling devices allowing time/space trade.
the device turning out to be a TARSIS [Time And Relative Storage In Space], a series of interconnected cabinets & closets similar to a TARDIS...
only SOMEone has been purposefully sending dangerous items (and prisoners/escapees) through the TARSIS to places they shouldn't be and/or exist
so (the) Time Trader - who has lost track of where all the TARSIS entries lead to - is forced to get back the improper 'items'
...and try to solve who has been using the TARSIS 'improperly'
(( this time I didn't recognize the actor in my dream playing the Time Trader - but still an interesting idea, no ?? ))
another moment from yesterday :
weird neighbourhood this afternoon - just blocks from home :
poor asian child being yelled at by 2 women - one in chinese, one in english
guy selling "500 $ speakers" out of his trunk
group giving out free bicycles in parking lot - BUT only to "immigrants & african-americans, sorry"
...and the "Kill The Whites" guys are cruising the neighbourhood again blasting rap >:(
EDIT : the "KTW" guys must've finally pissed off the (right) PD - or did SOMEthing (beyond their "not a valid" theat) - as they JUST got pulled over at the intersection near the apt ! *finally*
continuing on...
my work ethic/mentality is something I've always been relatively proud of... even though, as I've mentioned in prior postings, that I know that my work skills are something anyone could do if they trained and tried
I've been working since I've been 15, with only a year off while I was married not long after my eldest daughter was born
( the then-wife had higher paying employment and hers didn't take 2hrs and multiple buses to get to - let alone bicycling home after late hours, which was a bitch in wintertide and often had her worried )
I've always enjoyed working and even long weekends can sometimes get to me wishing that work was open *laughs*
no, I don't work as much as I did in my 20s or even early 30s - at some points of my work-life I was working 60-70+ hrs a week, one place I was working 8-10hrs on/6-8hrs off shifts
no, I didn't save any money from this time, either - for a short period I had, since all I was doing was working
...but since I wasn't using the money for anything other than bills and alcohol ( I was a helluva drinker then ), I "borrowed" out most of it ( which I know I'll never see )
hells, I even paid for part of a specific person's college education while I was working/drinking, presuming that said person actually gave a shit ( my bad in my idiocy )
nonetheless, I enjoy being in my "workmode" and actually doing something that contributes to something, even if it is a business
in all honesty, if I didn't need money to survive, I'd probably be volunteering much of my time in similar "workmode" ( if not still working despite not needing to )
in the entirety of as far back as my memory goes, I've worked and liked it - even the "awful jobs" had good things ( in those cases, usually the customers, not the owners/management )
I've worked more than 7yrs worth of hotels - including management - and worked more than 7yrs worth of management in general
no, I wasn't paid well... hotels and movie theatres and DVD sales, etc do not tend to pay well
I get paid more - and treated better - where I currently work and have worked for a decade now :) a wonderful company with steady work, even if it gets crazy/weird at times
and, yes, I do enjoy my current employment - where I'll likely be as long as they'll have me and am able to work ( barring if I should ever move or business closes or physical issues or the like )
just as with much of my life, I've gone into industries where I had no prior experience yet relatively succeeded
the challenge to learn something new is often as enjoyable as simply working itself
and - as I'm sure I've mentioned before - I pride myself on being able to adapt as well as learn, as businesses change I'm able to change :)
I doubt I'd be able to do some of the things I did when younger - don't think I'd want to, in some cases, like the hotel industry... high stress and low pay, no f'n thanks !!
hells, this coming summer I'll have been working for 30yrs ( with the aforementioned year exception )... that's a long time, honestly - longer than I ever expected to even be alive... Oi!
ANYways... I'll probably be working until my deathbed, or as long as I'm physically capable of working, since I have nothing saved for anything resembling a 'retirement'...
and no one's bought me a winning lottery ticket yet ;)
So... farethee well for now, my Lovelies and Gentlefolk, I'll be working and rambling on as usual...
twittage ::
11/19 : thankfully there are still neighbours that make me smile when I see and talk to them :)
11/22 : ah... we may even reach a temp of... freezing... today - *yeesh* and wintertide has barely begun *shivers*
11/24 : overwhelming yeasty, veggie, and even fishy stench in hallways yesterday - like subway + seafood *ugh* - kept me inside apt, spraying the entryway every so often to keep stench out...
11/24 II : THIS is how wintertide should be - being able to be outside comfortably and pain-free ! ...c'mon, you can do it, we believe in you !
11/30 : finished off another month, largely successfully, so treating myself to a li'l Papajones chix n' stix :)
12/2 : gonna be in the upper 40s ( well, between 1 and 4p )... how should I take advantage of this less-than-painful 3hr period, I wonder ?
12/2 II :"Any elected official with an ounce of sanity would vote "NO" on a bill which they haven't taken time time to read."
riiiight - like they did with N0bamacare, right ? //hypocrites//
