So I finally had my guitar fixed, and after 6 long years of no playing, Im getting back into the game. Any musicians out there have any pointers for me to keep practicing?

I was thinking of learning because i like the electric guitar sound...but then I thought what if i suck? what if my horriable no skills left hand just never produces the cool whaling electric guitar god like sound that I hope to pull off? what if I decide it simply isn't worth the effort? how will i know? Went to the Exit last night, for those of you that dont know, its a metal/punk/industrial club/bar in Chicago. Had some drinks with friends, an overall good time. Need to do it more often. This same shit, different day stuff is getting old real fast.
