What I’m about…
Living life in a way that reflects my values and beliefs.
Wait, no…
I want to try something different, something of a thought experiment:
Have you ever seen M.C. Escher’s Metamorphose ?
There are so many transitions through this piece to get lost in, some seemingly natural progressions and some more abstract in direction. The subject matter goes from a simplistic white or black square, to an intricately designed insect, creature, city, or chess piece. What I love about Metamorphose is the slow formation of plain indiscernible black and white shapes slowly taking form, getting more and more defined as the piece progresses, only to lose its shape and form again—falling back into an obscure void, then slowly being awakened to a different shape, a different form.
This is me.
Some days I am the blank abstract shape, my own form eluding my consciousness, my meaning obscured even from myself, my direction an unknown. Other days I am eminently aware of every facet of my existence, every tiny detail penciled in with the utmost care and precision...only to unravel again...
This is me.
