For me it's.... the story of my wedding ! Badummmtss @rambo @missy
Hubby's name is Tom, he is a tattoo artist.
As you know, i'm an avid traveller. While doing research on the First People of Canada, i read that some tribe offered to host weddings (not only within the tribe but to anyone willing). Me and my boyfriend had never discussed marriage or anything like that, we are more like day-to-day people. I casually asked him if he would be up for it and he casually said yes ! I find it romantic that it was kind of normal. Anyway ! We flew to Rome to do a more romantic and official proposal ! I LOVE Italy, most romantic country with France. We proposed to each other at the Colosseo. Love love love it. And by the way he shot my very first SG set that will forever be on the site i think :) This memory will never die for me. You can still check When in Rome...
So a few months after, we flew to Canada just the two of us. We told our family who thought it was a joke (because we prank everyone all the time like Pam and Jim in The Office), and we were laughing still because so happy ! We got married just the two of us in the woods, far far far away from home, but like we like to say often "Home is where the Babe is"
We were not alone per se but with the entire tribe, with dances, meals, music, presents... I can't show the faces of the people but how cool is our wedding outfit ? ;)
(Alone means also no great wedding pictures but we managed to get very nice ones, quality before quantity, but private :) )
Other pictures of the forest and area in the spoiler
We got precious stones as presents in the long rituals, we made our alliances after the wedding, not common :) Picture of the artist who made them :
Funny but i also shot my very last set as a fiancée days before, you can still see Québécoise here.
Then we flew to our honeymoon in New York City, it was awesome of course !
Then for our first anniversary we spent the day at the Blue Lagoon in Iceland :)
Not bad uh ????
Obviously we are still together and still travelling, we even moved countries to push the travel further :)
I know a lot of romantic stories from Suicidegirls, some still with their high school sweetheart, every relationship is unique and doesn't compare, i wish you all a happy relationship (even with yourself) and all the happiness in the world :) Happy Valentine's Day
Important note about cultural appropriation : Cultural appropriation is the adoption or use of elements of one culture by members of another culture, without the consent of the members of the originating culture . Our wedding was offered by members of the tribe, and we paid the tribe, no white people involved except us. They told us we had the right to make an official canadian pastor or something come to have real marriage papers to bring back in France but we did not want that because it was not their culture and we wanted THEM to marry us. This would have been cultural appropriation to bring someone from outside this culture. Real support of the First Nations today is financial, you can do it by buying their art, visiting their museums, and paying the fees to enter the reserves. Another way you can help is spreading awareness. Like with the Dakota pipeline problem, First Nations rights are constantly violated.
Cultural Appreciation is learning about another culture with respect and courtesy. It is appreciating a certain culture enough to take time to learn about it, interact with people among the culture, and actually understand the culture.
