summer, and our friend jerry
let's take some time out and reflect for a moment. today's reflection is all about summer, mainly all the things i've done so far this summer. first off i do have to say that i have not gotten "nature ized" as much as i feel like i should have. there have been a few instances where i've had time in nature, or the closest thing i could find to it. the fact is that we are all a part of nature really. that's a cornball cliche thing to say, but it's true. sometimes in the hustle and bustle of modern day living it's easy to forget. we are born of this earth, and the earth holds dominion over our lives. similarly the sun gives life to the earth, and so the same relationship exists there as well. the sun has dominion over the earth. now let's think larger for a minute. what's larger than the sun? just about nothing i'll bet. you know i'm kidding, there are other solar systems out there, and perhaps they are all influenced by the greater cellestial body that they orbit. i don't know the particulars, but i'm not really a science guy. we do know however that there are many many stars that we can see in the sky each night. things just keep getting bigger and bigger don't they? the fun thing is to turn the whole thing around. let's take a look at my body for a minute. it is made up of many seperate parts that all come together to make the whole. i have a liver, that is one of my body parts. what is the liver made out of? it's made out of all kinds of tissue, and tissue is made up of cells, and cells are made up of molecules, and molecules are made up of atoms. so now we find ourselves at the atomic level. atoms are all over the place! what in tarnation are these things made out of? neutrons and electrons, which are energy. electrical energy i do believe, again i'm not a science guy. so my liver is made out of seemingly "endless" bits of energy, as is everything else in my body. now perhaps an atom can be broken down further, and we could explore deeper and deeper. but who really cares to do that anyway? the point is that everything in my body is made up of this same energy. and outside of my body everything else is made up of the same thing as well. pretty neat huh? so looking at things outside our normal human perspective we can see that everything is the same. you might even say it's all ONE thing existing exponentially. let's stop a second and name this endless greatness. the term god is thrown out there a lot, i think it might be an all right word to use. how about creation? maybe just existence? i'd like to call it jerry personally. from now on the greater whole of all that exists will be known as jerry. but now i'm getting sidetracked, let's get back to the little chunk of jerry which we call my summer. i've been shooting some video with friends for a silly little video we're making. that went really good actually, and i have to thank everyone who has helped us out in any way shape or form. you know who you are buds. so we've got the dvd project to look forward to for a little while still. it's been a long time in the making, but it is definitely a worthwhile experience and something i feel must be done. the whole thing is silly and funny, but that's really the point. boy it's been getting chilly lately here in ohio. i like the heat though. everyone complains about it, but i really do enjoy it. it's fun to get out there and sweat like the dickens, it feels good. i prefer it to the cold of winter myself, but i have to say the briskness of fall is something special. i'm looking forward to see the great spectacles of it all. hopefully i'll nature-ize myself a good bit then too. swimming is a lot of fun to do in the summer. i've done it a couple times this summer. each time has been in a natural body of water too, no man made pools. so maybe i'm doing better than i thought with "getting my head down in it", with respect to nature. right now in the world people are getting really upset about the troubles in israel. i'm not really going to talk about all of that right now, but i do recognize the importance of current events. the future is an interesting thing to ponder isn't it? what is going to happen to this part of jerry (earth) in the years to come? well the answer to that is whatever we want. our collective willpower will create the reality in which we live. so that being said it is important to realize the fact that we are all in this thing together, and with some positive influence we can do anything. there are some very grim visions of the future out there. but it can only ever get as bad as we let it, so don't forget it. it's been a good summer all things considered.
