So yesterday at about 4:30 I tripped on the concrete staircase at my apartment complex and quite literally bit it. The metal edge on one of the stairs hit me below my nose/upper jaw. My good friend Ryan in the apartment above me helped me stop the bleeding and cleaned the gash in my gums. The cleaning consisted of swooshing water around in my mouth and spiting it out. I chipped one of my front teeth and I have a gash in my gums that is about an inch long and maybe about 1/16 or 1/32 of an inch deep.
As soon as AJ and my friend Josh got out of class 20 minutes later they took me to the emergency room. When we got there the doctor took some X-rays on my skull to see if I had a fracture in my nose or the bone right below it because I was and still am having pain in my nose (I can't blow it still to save my life it hurts!). They couldn't see anything so they told me that what I might have done is fractured the cartilage on my lower nose. Either way there really isn't anything they can do about it because it's an awkward area.
But they also told me to call a dentist first thing the next day because I might need stitches or more likely have damage to the roots in my teeth. In the mean time they prescribed me vicoden and some anti-biotics (vicoden makes everything better ^_^ )
So I went to the dentist this morning and they took some more X-rays. Good news, my teeth are fairly sturdy and in-place. Bad news, I might have to get a root canal. The dentist said that because of the way I hit my gums and how hard I hit it, I may have nerve damage. So I have to go back in a week to let them poke and prod and if it looks like the nerve is dying I have to go in for surgery.
All in all, it went well considering the circumstances, so far its heeling well, and it doesn't really hurt as bad as it looks (drugs help). I just hope I don't have to do a root canal, I've heard they are painful >.<
Sadly my camera has no batteries but I will get a picture soon if you guys really want one. It looks much better already so you won't be getting the full effect.
